General Motors Cuts Production and 2000 Factory Jobs for 2009
27.01.09
The job cuts will come from the elimination of one shift from GM’s plants in Lordstown, Ohio and Delta Township, Michigan. More changes at the two plants include dropping the plants to one shift each starting February 9th at the Lordstown plant and March 30th at the Delta Township plant. When the plants drop to only one shift, it will be without losing any workers by simply having the first and second shifts’ working alternating weeks.
Earlier this year, the Lordstown plant ramped up production of the Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 as consumers scrambled to find fuel efficient vehicles on the market. With consumers now hesitant to buy new vehicles because of the economic downturn, GM finds even more production cuts necessary as it lowered its 2009 industry sales forecast to 10.5 million vehicles.
In addition to cutting production at the Lordstown (Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5) and Delta Township plants (Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, and Saturn

pontiac g5?
Mar 14, 2008 by Olivia | Posted in Other - Cars & Transportation
What is yall's opinions on the new pontiac g5? it's the only 2 door car that I like the appearance of(besides the acura rsx and older civics). I hate those cars that are round on the back if you know what I mean. anyways i'm looking to get a g5 and was wondering if it is dependable and what not..
i just got one 2 months ago and i love it. i have no issues with blind spots or small trunks. its nice and small and easy to handle and fun two drive. i got the gt w/ manual. i would just reccomend not getting black, its a pain and every little scratch shows up.

When should I do my first oil change on my pontiac G5 2007?
Dec 12, 2007 by Duff C | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I bought a Pontiac G5 end of July this year. I got to 6000 kilometers today, oil life is still at 50 % ? Arent you supposed to change oil every 5000 kilomerters or or 3 months ? should i change it ASAP ?
Thanks for the info, but does anyone have anwer as to why my Oil life meter still says 50 % ??
Also I though you had to wait longer for the first oil change?
I jsut bought a new car and am about to do my first oil change at 1000 miles. I also always thought that you were supposed to wait longer to do the first oil change to let the piston rings break in, but almost everyone that I have talked to says this is not the case. The dealer also told me something about the engine being broken in at the factory, but my car is a Mazdaspeed so yours may be different.
Anyway the system says 50% oil life left because it works based on mileage. It will hit 0% when you have gone the reccomended miles for a change. The station will reset the system each oil change and it will start counting down again.
The 3,000 mile 3 month rule is BS and was coined by Jiffy Lube or other places like that to get more business. Look in your owners manual for the true reccomendation. Most cars say 5,000 to 7500 miles for normal driving. If you take frequent short trips or drive your car very hard you should change it more often.
If it were me I would find a G5 forum online and see what other people say for the first change. If you don't want to do that I would just change it now and then change it at 5,000 miles or so from now on.
