This might sound silly, but when you push the stop/star button of the Jaguar XF and the colors within it begin to pulse, the dashboard illuminates in red, and the engine begins to purr, you have an idea of how Batman must feel in the Batmobile.

So much power, high-tech gadgetry, and throbbing colors make you realize this isn't just a car, but a highly tuned, road-ready, super machine.

If you think the latest in computer gadgetry is hot, wait until you watch the covers over the front air vents slowly glide open and the front consoles' colors shift as the music of your choice streams out of the 13-speaker, 440-watt surround-sound Bowers and Wilkins audio system. When you're ready to take off, just turn the knob that controls the rotary shift drive, glance at the screen which shows the view from a rear-mounted camera, and you're off.

There's little doubt that the Jag's smooth, aerodynamic design will entice those who seek luxurious extras in a classic, yet sexy, four-door coupe. Just some of the exterior features that set the Jaguar apart include revised bumpers and lower front air intakes, sill extensions, Bonnet louvers and grilles, four tailpipes, a spoiler and 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside you're treated to ventilated heated and cooled seats that offer plenty of lumbar support, thick, plush carpeting, plus all types of high-tech gadgetry including radar-based blind-spot monitors and wheel-mounted shift paddles for those that that like to change gears manually.

Should I buy a used Mercedes CLS or a new Jaguar XF?

I'm thinking about purchasing a new/used car and I have narrowed it down to either a brand new Jaguar XF sedan or a used CLS. Which one do you think is a better idea now?

Get the new Jag XF. It is great, Ford has improved Jag's quality tremendously. You won't see as many on the road right now.

Is it better than the BMW 5 series? Mercedes E-Class? Which do you like more?

i hear jaguars are very unreliable and only to buy one if im ready to spend a few grand getting it repaired all the time. is the xf a reliable car??

Jaguar has been improving quality over the years. In 2008, Jaguar has scored 7th in the Initial quality rating by JD power. 6th was Toyota and 5th was Mercedes. It doesn't seem to make sense but it is true. The Xf might have problems but I think it is a pretty reliable car. Road and Track, a car magazine, did a long-term test with the Jaguar XK for 50,000 miles. The XK is the same chassis as the XF but the XF has four doors. It only had minor problems such as the seat wouldn't work but then worked a again after a while. Or a piece of trim would come off but could be put back on by yourself. The cost of repairs ( such as fixing the seat or trim pieces) have only been $200 for 50,000 miles. There were no expensive repairs but when they were in for maintanence service, (such as oil changes etc.), they said the customer service was excellent. Maintanence is expensive, it was $2322 for 50,000 miles. Wait for Road and Track to give a full review in the next month, they will cover everything. I think you would be fine with the XF.
