Nissan's Titan Pro-4X 4x4 built for workhorse duty - San Francisco Chronicle
06.02.09
At the heart of this rugged full-sizer (also available in a Crew Cab version) is the Titan's standard 5.6-liter Endurance V8, delivering 317 horsepower and 385 pound-feet of torque. Mated with a five-speed automatic transmission, fuel economy is estimated at 12 miles per gallon city and 17 mpg highway. It'll tow 9,300 pounds and tote 1,870 pounds in its standard 79.1-inch-long short bed. Adding $1,250 for a Max Utility Package, the Pro-4X's towing capability is enhanced with a Class IV integrated receiver hitch, seven-pin wiring harness, trailer brake prewiring and power heated extendable tow mirrors. Included in the package to make cargo-hauling easier is a Utili-track channel system, factory-applied spray-on bedliner, tailgate area lighting and 12-volt power outlet. Another cargo-box option adding convenience is a $280 sliding bed extender - a moveable tubular cage that can be slid along the Utili-track channels and flipped fore or aft as necessary. It's especially useful as a barrier, positioned toward the tailgate, to keep cargo (groceries and luggage included) from sliding across the load floor. Adding to cargo-loading ease is a standard Easygate dampened tailgate-assist, and small items can be stowed in a standard lockable integrated bedside storage cubby.

nissan titan?
Sep 09, 2007 by JD | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
We have a Nissan Titan and we go to start it and it will not start we jump it and it will so we took the battery in to get a new one and they stated the battery was perfect tested out so what could it be?
If it starts with a jump, it's obviously NOT the starter. Chances are you need to clean and tighten the battery terminal connections. Check the connections to the starter also to make sure they are clean and tight. I would think battery, but if it checked out...did they load test it? If everything else seems okay, I'd get a second opinion on the battery condition.

How do the tire pressure sensors work on a nissan titan. Can I change to aftermarket rims easily?
Mar 06, 2007 by luvbelly | Posted in Other - Car Makes
I want to upgrade to an aftermarket rim for my nissan titan. I am confused how this will affect my tire pressure sensors. My dealer said not an issue if I stay with a similar rim but offered no other details. Is the sensor located in or on the factory rim, if so, can it be transfered easily to a new rim? I do not want a constant idiot light showing on my dash.
Most sensors are part of the valve stem. If you can transfer them to the new wheels you should be ok.

Who owns a Nissan Titan and how do you like your truck?
Jan 19, 2007 by jims_prettyeyes | Posted in Nissan
My husband and I own a 2005 Nissan Titan LE that we just purchased last summer, and we just love it! It has the Flowmaster dual exhaust, which is kick ass rumblim! It also has full leather heated seats, the GPS navigation system built in, the Rockford stereo system, the factory spray on bedliner with the Uni-track system. It has lots of power and we think it is just an awesome truck! It really is a tough competitor to the Dodge, Chevy, and Ford trucks.
I bought a 2005 Titan XE and so far, I'm very pleased with it.
So far, no mechanical problems at 60,000 miles and the only maintenance I've had to do is oil changes.
What I really like about the Titan is that a V-8 and extended cab (King Cab) are standard. Another feature I like is the 5-speed automatic with manual shift mode, and the low tire pressure warning system, also standard features.
Inside, the cabin is roomy and quiet for a truck. The ride is good, and the steering has a nice feel to it. The stock exhaust rumble is noticeable and pleasant.
Once broken in, the Titan gets respectable fuel mileage. With almost 60k miles, I'm getting 19.5mpg on the highway and 16 in the city. My last chevy truck got worse mileage than that, while making almost 100hp less than the Titan's 305hp.
Titans got a bad reputation from the 04 models and early 05's. Among the big problems were brakes and rear axles, all of which are fixed on the newer models. I don't care who the manufacturer is, you are going to have first year bugs.
I have had a few rattles, but the dealer took care of it.
You just cannot beat the power of a Titan. New from the factory, the ECU limits the power until around 5K miles. After that, it really opens up. A Titan KC will run even with a Dodge Hemi, although the hemi is rated with more hp. HP isn't everything.
There is an aftermarket of performance parts for the Titan. UpRev can tune your ECU for additional performance. We're not talking about 10 or 15hp, we're talking about enough power to drop 0-60 times by a full second. Stock, a Titan will run 0-60mph in 7.4 seconds, with a good driver. With the UpRev tune, expect 0-60 in 6.5 seconds or less. In additon, headers and CAI's are available for the Titan for even more power gains. I've seen a few Titans running mid 13's in the 1/4 mile. That's corvette (non Z06) territory.
For those with the money, a supercharger is available from Stillen. With a supercharger, the Titan can easily put down 400+hp to the rear wheels, putting it in Lightning territory.
Along with those mods, I would recommend the Detroit True Trac, which gives you posi like performance and makes the rear axle nearly indestructable.
If I had to buy another truck today, the Titan would be at the top of my list. The new Tundra with the 5.7L is going to be really nice, but I bet it will be way more expensive than the Titan.
Before I bought my Titan, I have owned only domestic trucks. The biggest problem with the domestic trucks are the transmissions, Dodge being the worst, and various leaks. I took a chance with Nissan, and it will be hard to pull me back to the domestic trucks, unless it's a Duramax HD 2500 ;-)
