No Better Public Incentive from Honda to Car Shoppers in Feburary 2009

As most car manufacturers in the United States, Honda sales dropped 30.9% in January, but it seems there is no plan for Honda to better the incentive to its customer this month, at least those public incentives. There is no increase in dealer cash for Honda cars and SUVs. The previous promotion got extended.  The only exception [...]

Just got a 99 Honda cr-v and the remotes do not work. How do I check them?

I placed new batteries in the new 99 Honda cr-v that l got and the remotes still do not open the doors. How do l check them or reprogram them? There is no "clicking" sound as if the door unlocking mechanism is broken.

If all of your door locks don't work the remote won't make them work. So if you say that the door unlocking mechanism is broken are you saying that none of them work or only one doesn't work? if none of them work the remote keyless can't operate them remotely.

if the power locks work with the switches but not with the remotes there is a chance your remotes are not programmed to the car.

Follow the fhe steps below from the 99 CRV owner's manual to program the remote transmitters

Programming the Transmitter
NOTES:
• The system accepts up to three transmitters. The
transmitter codes are stored in a stacking-type
memory. If a fourth transmitter code is programmed,
the code for the first transmitter is erased.
• Entering the programming mode cancels all learned
transmitter codes, so none of the previously
programmed transmitters will work. You must
reprogram all of the transmitters once you are in the
programming mode.
• You must complete each step within 4 seconds of
the previous step to keep the system from exiting the
programming mode. Program the transmitters within
10 seconds.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Press the “Lock” or “Unlock” button on one of the
transmitters. (An unprogrammed transmitter can be
used for this step.)
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
4. Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 two more times using the
sa5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
6. Press the “Lock” or “Unlock” button on the same
transmitter. Make sure the power door locks cycle
to confirm that the system is in programming mode.
7. Within 10 seconds, press the “Lock” or “Unlock”
button on each transmitter. Make sure the power
door locks cycle after you press each transmitter
button to confirm that the system accepted the
transmitter’s code.
8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) to exit the
programming mode.me transmitter used in step 2.

hope that helps

Buying new Honda CR-V. Dealer found a scratch on the windshield, So he is replacing it. Can I still buy it ?

I have gone to Honda dealer and ordered a new Honda CR_V by putting 500$ deposit. On the day of the delivery, dealer found a scratch on the windshield and said he will replace it with a new one. Lot of places I read the if the windshield is not properly installed, it will cause some problems.
Should I still take the car from this dealer after the windshield replacement ?

it is a new vehicle and is covered under waranty. to satisfy your concern though, find out what company is installing the new windshield and you can check with the better business bureau, consumer affairs and see if the company has had many complaints about their work.

If you still feel at unease, ask the dealer to switch to a different CRV.

Is Buying a Used Honda CR-V a good deal in the Gulf?

I am planning to buy a Used Honda CR-V (may be a 1999-2001) model. Is it worth buying it, if so what should I make sure about the vehicle and how much should I quote?

No it's not. RAV4's have more power and get better gas mileage and features the CR-V doesn't even have. The RAV4 has an available V6 which blows the doors off the CR-V. Toyotas are also more reliable than Hondas are. The latest Car & Driver magazine has the new RAV4 as the best small sport utilitiy vehicle, and it has been for the past 5 years. Toyota created this small SUV segment in the first place, and Honda followed some time later. And, it is also available with a third row seat, which the CR-V doesn't even offer. Consumer Reports has listed its top picks for this year, and the RAV4 is its top pick in the small SUV category. It's so obvious that the RAV4 is the better choice.

When the original Honda CR-V debuted in the late '90s, its mission was simple: to offer a distinct alternative to more mainstream mid- and full-size large SUVs.
