Although its large wheels and relatively low ground clearance rule it out of the running as a serious off-roader, it sure makes up for it in the way it handles tarmac. With limited body-roll it behaves very much like a sporty hatchback, the taut suspension setup letting you attack corners like a boy-racer from Alberton. And while the CX-7’s intelligent four-wheel drive system tries its best to combat the effects of both under- and oversteer, there’s also the added benefit of Traction and Dynamic Stability Control. Under the bonnet you’ll find the glorious turbocharged engine stolen from the Mazda3 MPS. And although it sounds like a coarse Singer sewing machine, it pumps out insane levels of power and torque. It’s also mated to a 6-speed Activematic transmission that claims to offer “the best of both worlds” with a choice of automatic and manual modes. Now a tacky-looking lever might control it, but it actually turned out to be one of the finest gearboxes of its kind

2008 Mazda CX-7 squeaks on rough bumpy roads - passenger side dash.
Anyone find a solution for this? It's high pitch squeaks, when going over certain rough bumps.
Like mice are living in there squeaking away.
Is this just chassis twisting and nothing can be done?
It may be the suspension is not properly lubricated on that side of the vehicle or a bad shock.

How does the Mazda CX-7 compare to the Honda CR-V or the Toyota RAV4?

The CRV and RAV4 are two vehicles that have been around for a while now, and have had a very very good record when it comes to reliability. And on the other side, Mazda has not had a very good record when it comes to that, and the CX-7 is still pretty new, so there isn't too much to go by besides Mazda's reputation in general, so in that category, the Honda and Toyota win.
In the performance category, the Mazda wins when compared to the other 4 cylinder models, the RAV4 has a 6 cylinder with more power, but that is not comparable in price to the Mazda. The CX-7 is powered by a 2.3 liter engine good for 244hp, and 258 ft lbs of torque available at a very low RPM allowing for quick acceleration. It also features a 6 speed automatic transmission. To compare, the CRV's newest and fastest model has 166hp, whereas the RAV4 has 166hp in its 4 cylinder, but a whopping 269hp from the V6 version.
Options-wise, I like the CRV EX-L model the best, it is almost as luxurious as a BMW, but the Mazda has nice features as well. I like the red lights on the dashboard. But the music and A/C controls look confusing and kind of cluttered together.
Overall I would go with the Honda CRV, my mother has a 98 and is about to put 200K miles on it, so I know they are reliable. But the Mazda is very nice for hte price, and offers lots of power, and since it is so new, no body really knows for sure how reliable it will be.

where can i find performance parts for my 2007 mazda cx-7?

i have a new mazda cx-7. i know it is the same engine as the mazdaspeed 3 and 6 but i cannot find parts made for mine. i might be able to get the parts made for the other 2 cars and have them fabricated but i don't know of any good shops where i live now becuase i just moved there. greensboro nc is the place. if anybody knows where i can get parts or a tuning shop close to me, please help me out. it is my wife's truck but i have to drive it from time to time and i enjoy a good sleeper now and then. mine is fwd by the way. thanks!!
Here is a really good site for CX-7 owners. CX-7 and Mazdaspeed6 share the same engine, so you can buy parts for a MS6 that will work with CX-7.
