Police issue warning of suspects approaching teens - C&G Newspapers

SOUTHFIELD — Police are issuing warnings to the community after three teenagers reported suspicious incidents over the last few days.

One teenager was waiting at a school bus stop at 6:25 a.m. on Jan. 28 when he was reportedly approached by a black male driving a white Pontiac Grand Prix.

The man, described as between 18 and 20 years old, asked the teenager if he wanted to make some money, which the teenager believed implied some sort of sexual act, police said. The teenager did not respond, and the man drove away.

Later that day, a 16-year-old boy was walking home from school at 3 p.m. in the area of the 28000 block of Carmel Drive when he was approached by a black male driving a four-door SUV.

The man — described as being between the ages of 30 and 40, wearing a black jacket and a black knit cap — asked the teen where he lived and if he wanted a ride home. The boy refused, and the suspect drove away westbound on 12 Mile, police said.
