GMC Savana Cargo Van

The Savana Cargo Van is GMC’s full-size cargo van, offered in standard and extended-wheelbase versions. GMC’s full-size van was redesigned in 1996 when it was renamed the Savana. In 2003, the Savana received updated styling, all-wheel drive and a number of new features. The 2009 GMC Savana Cargo Van receives standard 17-inch wheels and tires for the 1500 trim levels. An engine oil cooler is now standard with the 4.3-liter V6 engine

Is a 2001 GMC Savana Cargo Van A Good Buy?

2001 GMC Savana 3500 Extended Cargo with a trailer hitch.
The mileage on it is: 125,014 miles (Which is what worries me)
The asking price is reasonable but I want to ensure that GMC has a good reputation as far as reliability. The purpose of this van is to deliver packages within my city and maybe even outside my city.
If GMC is not a good brand, any other type of cargo vans that I should be looking at? I'm going for used and under 8,000.00
Thank you all in advance.
Try out Driverside. It's still in beta but for each model it has cost of ownership, quality ratings, lists of similar cars, technical specs and links to other sites that will help you out with more data. Also the pricing data by mileage will help you see how good the deal is.

Which of these two cargo vans would you chose?

2001 GMC Savana 3500 Extended Cargo with a trailer hitch.
The mileage on it is: 125,014 miles
Price: $4,500
OR
2001 DODGE RAM CARGO VAN 1500 V6
The mileage on it is: 41,151 miles
Price: $6,500
If neither, should I go with FORD? CHEVY? or other make?
Thanks.
Depends on what you're going to do with it. The 3500 is able to handle much heavier loads than the Dodge. It has also been my experience that the GMC is more trustworthy than the Dodge.

NADA says the average retail value of the van is $9025 minus a $800 deduction for high miles. The general reputation of the GMC product is good. If you don't really need a one ton van to carry the packages you will be transporting it might be more cost efficient to buy a 1500 series van which would probably be less expensive and have a smaller engine which would use less fuel.
