January Auto Sales — Inside the Numbers - Wall Street Journal Blogs
05.02.09
There was little good news for GM and Chrysler in the U.S. auto sales totals that were reported this week . GM’s sales were down 49%, and Chrysler’s 55%. But dig through the numbers and the picture actually gets worse. Take sales per dealer. GM, Chrysler and Ford all have more dealers than they need. GM sold 128,198 cars and light trucks, and it has 4,650 dealers — an average of 19 per franchise. Chrysler sold 62,197 vehicles through its 3,300 dealers for the same average -– 19. Toyota has just 1,200 dealers, and it sold 117,287 -– an average of 97 per dealer, which means Toyota dealers are making more money, have more customers coming in for service, can spend more on their customer amenities and offer better service. The big drop in GM and Chrysler sales was mainly the result of large declines in sales to rental car companies and other “fleet” customers. A close look at the sales numbers shows both companies have several models that were being sold almost exclusively as rental cars, and very few “real customers” are choosing them at dealerships.

Dodge Caliber?
Nov 02, 2007 by Due May 17, 2009! | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Is there a big difference between a Dodge Caliber and a Pontiac Vibe? I can't decide between the two.
Yes these two are built on different platforms one is GM and the other Dodge. meaning they are totally different, I would look at the resale. I have to agree that the vibe needs a revamp on looks. The caliber has a lot of accessories that are unique.
I'd go for the Caliber.

Does the Dodge Charger and the Dodge Caliber have bad blind spots?
Mar 18, 2008 by t.yeomans | Posted in Dodge
My mom is letting me get a car this summer, and she is only going to let me get one if they don't have horrible blind spots. She is going to let me get either the Dodge Charger or the Caliber. Right now, she has a PT Cruiser, and it has the worst blind spots ever! Please give me the best info you can. I am leaning more towards the Dodge Charger!
for thos ethat like the pt cruiser...I say it is fine if they are enjoying that type of body style...but I believe it is dodges worse vehicle to be on the road...as for the charger ...it is possibly the best car for you out there ...it has an excellent safety rating(even car&driver magazine agrees)..but for a new driver it is a fun and easy car for all to drive..it is one of the best combinations of fun safety and ride and drive around...and as all vehicles may have blind spots....I believe you will find charger is even good to see rear ..side ..and front views for all...the rear glass is a little more slant view from rear view but is set to the ground right by thhe body to see very good all around...pt cruiser on the other hand is a driving hazard for operator as well as everyone else on road...even from front windshield it is rediculous they cause accidents...it reminds me of the earliest cars that you can barely see out of them enough to do anything but guess your distance to obsticles or other motorist..she should do you and us all a favor and trade it in and get you and her both a new dodge..they offer a big discount when doing this ..and you both will be happier and safer...good luck and hope you get charger...you will love it...

Should I buy a Dodge Caliber? Does anyone have negative or positive feedback regarding the Caliber? ?
Jan 28, 2009 by James M | Posted in Dodge
I have test driven a HHR and really enjoyed it. However, I'm not a huge fan of the design. I absolutely love the amount of cargo space. Since I have a lot of music and sports equipment to haul around I need something with significant storage. I really like the Dodge Caliber as well. I hear that they severely lack in performance though. Any thoughts on what I should do would be appreciated.
i bought a 2009 caliber last november and i love it they have different models to choose from i have the stx blue it haves a cooler in the glove box sat radio free for a year and now they have a major discount on them . it runs pretty good for the price real good on gas a hhr will be more on gas you can get a all wheel drive one they have some with a neat package which haves a neat hood scoop on it some have tilt down speakers in the hatch for tailgating alot of headroom . some have the Bluetooth in the radio . in all in all i love my car for the price
