Though Saab has been running prototypes of its all-new 9-5 sedan around Europe for some little while already, the Scandinavian engineers have done a remarkable job at keeping the car hidden from the curious. Until now.

The larger 9-5 mule seen here will utilize GM’s Epsilon II platform, meaning increased to both wheelbase and overall length, and a likely increase in cabin size as a result. The big sedan should offer a decent range of engine options in Europe, though U.S. customers may have to pick from just a 2.0-liter turbocharged four or a 3.6-liter V-6. Look for the turbo cars to offer both manual and automatic transmissions. Diesel and Hybrid 9-5’s may also be in the works.

The mule seen here has been quite effectively camouflaged, but the proportions look to be right on for a sporting four-door. We’re also excited to see that a traditional Saab ducktail spoiler seems to be in the early mix.
